Team PE International is built around a simple belief: that overcoming barriers to community participation and education can help people build confidence, integrate and create positive futures. Today, our work is focused on supporting refugees in the UK, drawing on the experience and values we have developed through our work with communities both in the UK and internationally.
Founded in 2020, Team PE International originally worked with charities, schools and communities around the world. We provided free training, programme development support and equipment through projects that used sport as a tool to create positive change in communities.
These experiences played an important part in shaping the charity we are today. Working with people who had been forced to leave their homes showed us how important opportunities to learn, participate and connect can be when building a new life in a new community.
Over time, our work has evolved to focus more directly on supporting refugees in the UK. We now provide educational support and mentoring whilst opening doors to sport and physical activity. Through these opportunities, people can develop skills, gain confidence, build relationships and integrate into their local communities.
Our team brings together experience across education, youth work, mentoring, sport coaching and international sport for development. We also believe that the people we support should have a meaningful voice in shaping our work, helping us understand the opportunities, challenges and experiences of those rebuilding their lives in the UK.
